     Ultra Light

     This ultra light-weight, off-grid solar power system can be carried during events, such as backpacking expeditions, where minimal weight is critical.  The system can power a variety of portable DC-powered electronic devices that require up to 19 volts/3.5 amps, and recharge itself in sunlight using the included solar panel.  The battery, solar panel, and accessories will fit inside many standard laptop carrying cases.  The ability to power an electronic device using DC power is dependent on the availability of the correct DC power adapter to connect to your device’s DC power input jack.  The correct DC power adapter is either included in the eight most commonly used DC adapters that come with the system, or it may be purchased separately.  For those devices that have a male automobile DC adapter, a female cigarette lighter socket that plugs into the battery is included.

     Ultra Light includes:  Battery: one rechargeable lithium polymer battery assembly that weighs 1 pound, stores 45 watt-hours of energy, that can be solar charged directly from the solar panel using an included Solar Panel Charging Adapter with connector-cable, or that can be charged using the included AC-powered battery charger when the grid is available (the AC charger is configured for American 120-volts AC).  The battery assembly can deliver user-selectable output voltages of 5-19 volts DC, can deliver a regulated 5 volts DC to a built-in USB port for charging cell phones, iPods, and other USB-charged electronics, and has a push-button fuel gauge.  Solar panel: foldable 10-watt unit in black that will require 5-6 hours of peak sunlight to recharge the battery, and that weighs 0.73  pounds.  The photos show a foldable solar panel in green camo, but the panel that is included in this system is solid black.  Accessories: one DC-output cable with 8 common sized barrel connectors, one USB charging cable, one female cigarette lighter socket adapter with cable, and one custom cable connector that links the solar panel to the battery assembly.

     The entire system weighs 3.06 pounds.  The AC charger will not be needed during a backpacking expedition.  Leave the AC charger behind, and the system weighs only 2.12 pounds.
