Sun Spot

     This ultra light Portable Solar Power System can be carried during events where minimal weight is critical.  The system can provide a maximum of 155 watts of power for a short time, and can power a variety of portable electronic devices that require 12 volts DC up to 14 amps/approximately 155 watts, 110 volts AC up to 150 watts (short time), and can recharge itself in sunlight using the included solar panel.  If the power draw on the battery is 30 watts, the battery will last approximately 2.5 hours in the absence of incoming solar power before it needs to be recharged.  The battery assembly, solar charge controller, wiring, fuses, solar power input connector-cable, 12-volt female DC socket are housed inside a waterproof, dustproof, crushproof protective hard case.  The solar panel, inverter, 15-foot extension cable, and AC-powered battery charger remain outside of the case.  12VDC power is accessible via a female cigarette lighter socket that is controlled by a 15-amp ATC fuse.  If the power draw on the battery exceeds 15 amps, the ATC fuse will blow, and will need to be replaced (easy to do; extras included).

      Sun Spot includes: Battery - a rechargeable, 11.1-volt, 8.5 amp-hour, 94 watt-hour, lithium ion battery pack.  The protective circuitry boards protect the battery against over-charge, over-discharge, short circuits, and limit the maximum discharge current to 20 amps.  Polyswitches further limit the maximum drain current to 14-15 amps.  The maximum drain current at the female cigarette lighter socket is limited to 15 amps by the ATC fuse, so be sure to limit the power draw to less than 15 amps.  The battery can be charged directly from the solar panel via the solar charge controller, or via the smart, 1.5-amp, 100-240VAC-powered charger when the grid is available (plugs directly into the cigarette lighter socket; 8.5-hour complete recharging time);  Solar panel - CE, FCC, and Std MIL 810F-certified, foldable 30-watt/1.8-amp unit in green woodland camouflage that weighs only 1.76 pounds, that will require approximately 4 hours of peak sunlight to completely recharge each battery if it is depleted, and that measures 41.3 x 31.7 inches when unfolded, and 11 x 9.5 x 1 inches when folded. The photo shows a 60-watt panel.  This system comes with a 30-watt panel; Solar Charge Controller - 4-amp/45-watt MPPT (maximum power point tracking) unit that is configured for 11.1-volt Li-ion batteries, that has a “resting” power consumption of 0.09 milliamps, and that is protected by a 7.5-amp ATC fuse; Inverter - continuous 150-watt modified sine wave unit that plugs into the female cigarette lighter socket; Case – IP67-certified hard case in Natural Gear camouflage that measures 9.37 x 5.56 x 2.62 inches in external dimensions.   

     The entire system weighs 6.34 pounds.  The AC-powered charger will not be needed when the system is used off-grid.  Leave the AC-powered charger behind, and the system weighs 5.5 pounds.
