Lucciola

     This Portable Solar Power System can be carried during events where high energy density and minimal weight are critical.  The system can power a variety of portable electronic devices that require 12 volts DC up to 15 amps/180 watts, 110 volts AC up to 150 watts, and can recharge itself in sunlight using the included solar panel.  If the power draw on the battery is 30 watts, the battery will last approximately 2.5 hours in the absence of incoming solar power before it needs to be recharged.  The battery assembly, solar charge controller, power inverter, AC charger, solar power input connector/cable, and 12-volt female cigarette lighter socket/cable are housed inside a padded MOLLE hip/shoulder bag/pack in desert khaki.  The solar panel remains outside of the pack.  12VDC power is accessible via a female cigarette lighter socket that is controlled by a 15-amp ATC fuse.  If the power draw on the battery exceeds 15 amps, the ATC fuse will blow, and will need to be replaced (easy to do; extras included).

      Lucciola includes: Battery - a rechargeable, 12.8-volt, 6.8 amp-hour, 87.04 watt-hour, lithium iron phosphate battery pack that will tolerate > 2000 discharge-charge cycles.  The protective circuitry board protects the battery against over-charge, over-discharge, short circuits, and limit the maximum discharge current to 25 amps.  The maximum discharge current at the 12-volt female DC socket is limited to 15 amps by the ATC fuse.  The battery can be charged directly from the solar panel via the solar charge controller, or via the smart, 3-amp, 100-240VAC-powered charger when the grid is available (plugs directly into the cigarette lighter socket; 3-3.5-hour charging time);  Solar panel - foldable 30-watt/1.8-amp unit in solid desert khaki that weighs 1.76 pounds, that will require approximately 3 hours of peak sunlight to completely recharge the battery if it is depleted, and that measures 41.3 x 31.7 inches when unfolded, and 11 x 9.5 x 1 inches when folded; Solar Charge Controller - 4-amp/45-watt MPPT unit that is configured for 12.8-volt LiFePO4 batteries, and that has a “resting” power consumption of 0.09 milliamps.  Because of the continuous, but small, baseline power draw of the controller, the battery needs to be recharged every week or two in order to avoid complete drainage of the battery pack; Inverter – 12-volt DC to 110-volt AC, 150 continuous watt, modified sine wave unit that plugs into the 12-volt female DC socket; Carrying bag/pack – MOLLE hip/shoulder bag/pack in desert khaki.

     The entire system weighs 6.6 pounds.  The AC-powered charger will not be needed when the system is used off-grid.  Leave the AC-powered charger behind, and the system weighs 6.1 pounds.

     Each of these systems is custom-made as needed.  Please allow 4-6 weeks of lead time per system.
